Movie Review:
The Movie stands different from hundreds of the so called ‘family movies’ in the regular masala formulas, but viewers can easily find the film making style as having a lot of similarities with the pattern of the latest new generation films which include Cock-Tail, Traffic, Chappa Kurish, Beautiful and Second Show. This movie is the latest link in the chain of differently made youth films with youth stories and the attempt is not bad, though not exceptionally wonderful in terms of story/acting.
The area in which the film stands out is the way in which the story is told, inter-relating the bunch of characters, bringing out impact each character makes without his knowledge in the life of others who will not be in the scene at that time.
Yes, the new generation films also have a formula. The main characters as well as crew will be youth. The films will not have a single hero. At-least 5-6 equally important main characters, with totally different background is the way in which the canvass will be constructed. The background of these separate characters, their surroundings and their life will be portrayed. Then there will be inter-linking of incidents which brings some characters to come in contact with others, and some don’t.
Coming back to ‘Ee Adutha Kalathu’, it certainly has all these features, but the mix is good, and the social themes sync perfectly with the story. At times the lip movement and acting of Tanushree Ghosh do not justify the story, but as the story progresses, lot of improvement can be seen from her part , who depicts the main heroine.Murali Gopy and Indrajith have done their roles in the natural style and Nishan also fits into the role quiet comfortably. Role/Acting of Anoop Menon is limited compared to Beautiful, but brings some energy to the scenes. Lena and Mythilli are the other leading female characters in the story.
